On May 26, McAfee will introduce Patch 1 for VirusScan Enterprise 8.7i. This mandatory patch secures VSE 8.7i systems against a Denial of Service (DoS) vulnerability that could cause systems to lock up and remain unusable until rebooted. Patch 1 also provides additional performance enhancements, functionality upgrades, and resolution to other potentially business-impacting issues.

Additionally, Patch 1 updates manageability and reporting capabilities for Artemis Technology.
- Updated manageability means you will be able to configure the desired sensitivity level for the On-Access Scanner (OAS). SuperDAT packages will no longer be required for managing Artemis for 8.7i Patch 1 and later.
- Reporting capability means the three scanners (On-Access, On-Demand, On-Delivery Email) will have their Artemis Technology sensitivity level captured during property collection, reported back to the ePO database, and viewable in reports that show Artemis coverage for the ePO managed environment.

Patch 1 is a critical update for VSE 8.7i that will maximize the protection of your infrastructure. As a patch designated "mandatory" by McAfee, if you call in for McAfee VSE 8.7i with a support request, we will need to ensure that Patch 1 is installed on at least one affected system.
